Tin roof painting

Painting a new tin roof

  1.  The most important work step in painting a tin roof is the careful cleaning and washing of the roof. The entire sheet metal roof and gutters are washed with sheet detergent by brushing. Fat, pollen and other impurities are removed from the surface of the sheet. After washing, it is important to rinse the roof carefully with high pressure, so that there are no detergent residues left on the roof. After rinsing, the roof is allowed to dry.

  2. The tin roof is painted twice with water-based paint by spray painting. The first layer is painted with paint thinned with water and the second layer unthinned. Modern tin roof paints have an anti-rust pigment, so a separate anti-rust primer is not needed. Adhesion of the paint to the clean sheet happens chemically, so the use of a roller or brush is not required. However, the narrowest areas, such as the window shutters, can be painted with a brush.

Painting a old tin roof

  1. In the maintenance painting of an old tin roof, the most important thing is careful groundwork. The flaking paint and rust spots on the roof are removed with high pressure and a wire brush disc. The rust spots are treated with a rust inhibitor to stop the rusting. When the substance has taken effect, it is shouted away. The entire roof is carefully washed with sheet metal detergent by brushing to remove grease and other impurities. After washing, the sheet detergent is carefully rinsed off.

Painting the condominium new tin roof

The first painting of two approximately 500m2 tin roofs in Lauttasaari, Helsinki.

"There was a lot of surface area to paint. For two men, the painting went surprisingly quickly despite the unstable weather. Painting the gutters took time because they had to be painted with a hoist from between the trees. According to the inspector, a good result"
